CRITICAL INFORMATION

PLEASE HELP PRESERVE NORTH LAKE

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO FERTILIZER ALLOWED WITHIN 20 FT OF THE LAKE.

LAWN FERTILIZER BEYOND 20FT MUST BE PHOSPHOROUS FREE.

IT HAS BEEN THE LAW SINCE 2008 AND YOU CAN BE TICKETED AND FINED.

Fertilizing within 20 ft. of the lake, in addition to being illegal, negatively affects the lake. It causes algae and aquatic plant growth and reduces water clarity on the lake you and your neighbors live on and hope to enjoy for a long time.

Please encourage your neighbors to comply with the law and educate your lawn service.

Be on neighborhood watch and report unlawful fertilizing to NLMD.

Please consider establishing Buffer Zones (special plantings that filter the water before it goes into the lake) on the edge of your property along the lake. The many benefits are:

  1. Stops debris from entering the lake.
  2. Stops nutrients from entering the lake.
  3. Stops other pollutants from entering the lake.

Additional data on Buffer Zones will be provided at Annual Meetings and in Newsletters.  Also additional data can be found on this Website, NLMD.ORG , under the “Shoreline” heading.

With the cooperation of all residents on North Lake, we can assure a better tomorrow.

Thank you for your consideration and co-operation on this matter.
